Your Imminence, your Disgraces, my Thorns, Shadies, and Gentledevils – no, wait, that’s from Screwtape Proposes a Toast. Wrong context. Ahem.

I am delighted to be able to share the US cover and the lead-in text for book five of the Invisible Library series, The Mortal Word.

The Mortal Word

When Irene returns to London after a relatively straightforward book theft, Bradamant informs her that there is a top secret dragon-Fae peace conference in progress that the Library is mediating, but that the second-in-command dragon has been stabbed to death. Tasked with solving the case, Vale and Irene immediately go to 1890s Paris.

Once they arrive, it seems that the murder victim had uncovered evidence suggesting that he may have found proof of treachery by one or more Librarians. But to ensure the peace of the conference, some Librarians are already hostages in the dragon and Fae courts. To save the captives, including her parents, Irene must get to the bottom of this murderโ€”but was it dragon, Fae, or even a Librarian who committed the crime?

(And yes, I’ve seen the UK cover too, and it’s also gorgeous – hopefully I can share that soon as well . . .)

Yes! I’m so excited! This is one of my favorite “new” series, and I devour each book you release. The cover looks excellent too. I think the UK generally has more exquisite covers, at least I thought so for the Redwall and Harry Potter series.

*happy dance* I am SO thrilled to hear about this!! I just recently discovered this series and it has become a new favorite, hands-down. I’ve only read the first 2 books (gulped, actually in less than 1 week per) with plans to get the next 2 here soon. Finding out there will be even more to enjoy just tickles me like crazy. I can’t wait to add them all to my own little “library” ๐Ÿ˜‰

Will Kai be in this installment at all? He’s my favorite character! I’m excited to read it either way!

Oh, man. I’ve been following you on Twitter for a while now, and you keep dropping little copy-editing hints–I couldn’t take it anymore and scurried to your site! I’m so excited for this, and extra thrilled to hear there’s not only book 5, but 6, 7, and 8! This is my favorite series. I could go on and on. But for now, I just want to say I’ve never felt the rush of adrenaline flipping quickly through the pages of a novel before–and certainly never each part of a series. I can’t wait–but I can, and I must.

Thank you! That’s wonderful to hear. I’m so glad you’re enjoying it, and that you get a kick from reading it. I will do my best to keep up the danger level. ๐Ÿ™‚

I absolutely adore these books. I was so disappointed when Kai resigned his position as apprentice because I knew I would sorely miss his and Irene’s frequent interactions. Are Kai and Irene still going to be a prominent duo or will Irene and Vale be working together more?
Thanks for being such a talented, engaging, and dedicated writer!

I’m delighted that you enjoy the books. I can tell you that both Kai and Vale have major roles in book 5, though I’m afraid I can’t tell you the plot . . . And thanks for reading them!
